Cahors in southern France is bordered by a meander in the River Lot, deep in France's wine country. Cahors is famous for its red wine but has some fascinating sights as well. A series of municipal medieval-style gardens dot the urban area. Among the period architecture, a selection of budget and mid-range Cahors hotels can be found.
If you’re here at this festive time, you’ll find that the French certainly know how to ring in the New Year.

St Vincent Festival
St Vincent Festival held every year in Burgundy, this celebration honours St Vincent, who is the patron saint of wine. In many villages in this wine-growing region this event is a community affair, during which there are processions through the streets, church services – and massive banquets. Each year, a different village is selected to be the host, and becomes the locale for the majority of the events and the destination for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to Burgundy for the festival.
