Katima Mullion or just Katima is a large town, which lies on Namibia's north-eastern border with Zambia, 1,226km northeast of Windhoek, the capital city. It is well-serviced by most major town conveniences and is said to be known as a prime lodging base for visits to its surrounding national parks, many of which are home to quite a few animals only seen in the northern region of Namibia, including hippo, elephant and crocodile. Game drives are Katima’s most enjoyed attraction. Katima Mullion offers budget to high-end accommodation.
This is a public holiday in Namibia and a time for families getting together and feast on venison and beef. New Year’s Eve sees many people celebrating with parties, music and drinking, so for many, New Year’s Day is a chance to recover from the night before.
