This resort is luxurious accommodation in an adventurous location. It was enjoyed by everyone in our group from my mother to my 4yo son. If you want a holiday with all the city conveniences then this is not for you. It does provide many comforts and activities to do for the energetic and the less adventurous. Its ideal for nature loving people who want to be pampered a little while enjoying the natural surrounds.

What dreams are made of! (Koh Phanghan does not yet have an airport. One way of arriving to the island is from Koh Samui. There are public ferries to Koh Phanghan but Santhyia offers their own transfers.) So it starts off with a Santhiya transfer from our hotel in Koh Samui to the pier. Greeted at the pier in their lounge area, so we can be "cool". Then onto their own speedboat. There are 12 guests and 5 workers on board to handle the luggage and provide us with water. At the first sight of the resort, you see the lovely beach and traditionally dressed Greeters waiting to welcome us at the dock. We walk through the beautiful pool areas and can only imagine what luxury awaits us, up the hill. We are seated at table in a large pavilion of which the detailed wood and beam architecture and views are magnificent. After being served a cool refreshing drink, the General Manager welcomes us. He explains the facilities and activities available to us and genuinely makes us feel welcomed. Without even going to the Reception Pavillion, we are all individually attended to by the Reservation Officer. When the room is available, a Reservation Officer leads us to the Santhiya Car. We all hop on, heading to our room. The Reservation Officer shows us the room's features and again reminds us, they are but a phone call away. The resort, in the middle of a tropical forest, is extremely well designed. It is hard to see the different buildings as they have kept as much of nature as possible. There are a number of different room styles available. The food was plentiful, fresh, very tasty and reasonably priced. I think I had the best black squid pasta from room service, one night. One must try the restaurant by the beach. Hearing the ocean waves crashing at night made me feel like I was directly on the beach. The evening shows with buffet are entertaining. Our room, at the very top of the resort, had spectacular views. I especially liked the almost private pool by the building. The furnishings were a woodworkers dream. The bed comfy and the towel art was appreciated. The souvenir shop is very well priced and has great items. I loved spending time in the library. It was so peaceful. The pools are great. Again nature is well maintained with the waterfall wall and the large “stones” in the pool used as seats. I loved the well placed elephants around the pool and beach. It was cute to shower under their trunks. The resort spreads throughout a hill and they provide complimentary "taxi service" if you do not want to walk. We opted to walk as we had been enjoying the food too much. The staff were always pleasant and helpful but we didn't realize to what extent they cared until our departure. We had booked the speedboat to return to Koh Samui's airport. However, the forecast was for a rain storm. We were advised they could be making changes to the method of departure. As our scheduled departure time of 11:30 am approaches, it is not raining but cloudy and the water is rough. They have decided the dock is too “bouncy" so we will leave from the beach. We walk towards the beach. I am surprised at how close to shore they have brought the speedboat. There are at least a dozen staff members there. Keeping the boat near the shore, carrying luggage, helping people on board, looking after shoes, etc. I'm impressed the General Manager is also helping people get on board. We hand our shoes to a staff member and walk a few steps in the water onto the boat. When we are all in, the speedboat is pushed off into deeper waters so our travels can begin. Unfortunately, I have neglected to take a motion sickness pill and the waters are rough. When we arrive in Koh Samui I am not feeling well at all. I can barely walk. I cannot take the airport transfer. Nan, who usually greets people at the pier gives me wet towels and patiently waits for me to have enough strength to exit the boat.
